At Cairns South Early Learning Centre we are proud to offer additional programs for our children to further explore their athletic and creative talents. We provide professional sports programs from external providers along with extensive music, language and yoga classes.
Our Kindergarten Programs adhere to the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and are approved by the Queensland Government, with a curriculum that meets the National Education Guidelines and the ELYF – Early Learning Years Framework, and a super team of highly qualified and experienced educators working within the 0-12 years age groups. Our childcare programs provide children with a foundation for lifelong learning.

Our Childcare Learning Programs
0 – 2 Years
In this age group there is a great deal of emphasis put on creating a home away from home, with educators concentrating on building positive attachments with our children. We run a fully flexible routine to accommodate for children and family’s needs to help settle them into our care effectively.
Children of this age group are constantly reaching new milestones, which we work alongside families to engage children in relevant activities to develop their inner dependence and reach their developmental goals.
2 – 4 Years
In these age groups our educators are concentrating on the importance of learning through play. By working collaboratively with family input, and extending on the interests of children, we plan an enjoyable curriculum to further develop children’s play through extensions in their room.
Moving up to our 3-4 year age group, our lead educator works in conjunction with our early childhood teacher in preparing the children ready for our pre-school/kindergarten room and the kindy program.
4 – 5 Years
In this age group we have a qualified teacher who teaches the kindergarten program to our children in conjunction with Queensland’s kindergarten learning guidelines. We focus greatly on readiness for school and support and encourage children to meet goals within their learning environment.
We offer fee assistance from the government for health care card holders whose child attends for 2 days or more a week.

Our focus is to build resilience within our children whilst providing positive play-based experiences giving the children freedom of choice in an educational environment.
We place equal focus on developing the children’s cognitive, social, emotional, physical and language skills throughout their journey at our Centre, with emphasis on a Holistic Learning approach. We are strongly guided by a range of Theorists including Maria Montessori, Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky and Erik Erikson.
Outside Play Areas
Our modern outdoor play areas provide large natural grassed areas for children to run around and have lots of fun in the natural environment.

We encourage the children to learn and engage with the natural environment as possible. We have some chickens and ducks in our top yard and the children look after the feeding, watering and cleaning of our barn animals, and care on a day to day basis.
Outside we also have a couple of worm farms located around the service. We collect scraps from the kitchen which the children take to the farms/guinea pigs/chickens and ducks. We teach the children the value of composting through feeding the worms, care of the worm farm and also how to make worm tea (fertiliser) on a weekly basis which goes onto our veggie gardens.
Before and After School Facility
We are one of the few centres in Edmonton that offer a Before and After School Care facility on site. Your children can enjoy fun activities while you’re busy with work or errands during their non-school hours.
One of the best things is that we’re open from 6:30am -6:00pm Monday to Friday, giving parents more time for themselves. Our team will take good care them during this time so all they need do is have fun with their friends on site!
Renowned Vacation Care Program
Vacation care is for the whole family to enjoy! There are new age-appropriate activities each day, so it’s never boring!
The program runs Monday through Friday with options of attending as many days you want or need – this way your little ones can have their favourite vacation routine back while also getting some quality time during breaks from school
